Frequently Asked Questions
Most physicians are ready to start their first assignment within 4-6 weeks of submitting their initial profile. The timeline depends primarily on state medical licensing (if you need a new license) and facility credentialing requirements. Some specialties and facilities have faster processes, while others may take longer.
Absolutely not. You're in complete control. Browse available opportunities and express interest only in assignments that genuinely appeal to you. There's no pressure to accept assignments that don't fit your goals.
Yes! Many of our physicians live across the country and travel to Wisconsin for locum assignments. We handle all travel logistics and provide furnished housing. You just need to be willing to obtain a Wisconsin medical license (we guide you through the process).
We work with many first-time locum physicians. Your placement specialist will walk you through every step, answer all your questions, and ensure you feel confident and prepared before your first assignment.
Locum tenens assignments are temporary (typically 1 week to 6 months). You're employed by SelectLocums (not the facility), which means we handle your payroll, benefits, malpractice insurance, and HR needs. The facility provides clinical oversight and you deliver patient care according to their protocols and standards.
